Youth Worker - Sports

We are looking for a Sports Youth Worker for at a brand new youth facility, to ensure young people have access to an exciting sports programme that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental.

Position: Youth Worker Sports

Location: White City

Salary: GBP13.15 per hour (Living Wage for London)

Hours: Various hours available to be discussed at interview (including evenings and weekends)

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

Sport is one of the cornerstones of the organisation s work and they have some fantastic facilities for engaging young people in; including floodlit all-weather rooftop pitch, a climbing wall, a boxing gym, a state-of-the-art fitness suite, a full-sized sports hall which is capable of being transformed into basketball, netball and badminton courts, as well as housing cricket nets. They also offer martial arts and much, much more.

The role will require you to assist with either our Juniors (8 -12 years) or seniors (13 -19 years) within one or more of our sports room. We are looking for people who have experience in one of more sports disciplines. Whether it be football, basketball, tennis or cricket we'd love to hear from you!

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

To assist with the delivery of all aspects of the youth zone sessions with young people.To work well in a team bringing fresh skills & ideas to the current offer.To motivate, encourage and support young people to try activities and participate fully in sessions.To support volunteers in sessions, coaching them to achieve their full potential within their given rolesDevelop and maintain a professional relationship with the young peopleTo be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of members is promotedEstablishing boundaries for the youth and correcting inappropriate behaviour

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of:

Face-to-face activity delivery working with groups of young peopleWorking with young people from diverse backgrounds and with challenging needsExperience of delivering a wide range of high-quality sports programmes or activity sessionsUnderstanding of national and local initiatives which influence provision of youth work to young peopleKnowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practiceAbility to plan and evaluate programs of activity including production of session plans and evaluationsAbility to communicate effectively with young people, parents, team members and members of the public

In accordance with Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires an enhanced DBS check.
