Youth Worker - Arts

We are looking for an Arts Youth Worker to lead on visual arts at a brand new youth facility, ensuring young people have access to an exciting and creative arts programme that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental.

Position: Youth Worker Arts

Location: White City

Salary: GBP13.15 per hour (Living Wage for London)

Hours: Various hours available to be discussed at interview (including evenings and weekends)

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: 33 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays (pro-rata); workplace pension; free gym access; access to Talent Academy; bespoke training and mentoring.

About the Role

The Arts, alongside sport and Youth Work, is at the heart of the organisation s offer to young people. The Arts offer is wide ranging and includes visual arts, music, media, dance and drama. This role is 100% face to face delivery with young people, you will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of a single, or range of arts activities, enabling young people to explore their creativity and grow their skills.

Please note that to be successful, you do not need to be proficient in every area of the type of art you are experienced with. For example, for the Performing Arts, you may be experienced with music but not dance and drama please still apply!

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

Help to develop and implement an Arts programme that is exciting, challenging and ever changingTo deliver arts and craft activities to young peopleTo work directly with young people to develop their social skillsTo respond to the needs of the young people through activities and project workTo support and motivate volunteersTo ensure that the members maintain a high standard of behaviour and discipline during sessions

About You

The charity are looking for a range of talented youth arts workers to make up a team with a diverse set of skills and expertise, who are also passionate about working with young people. Ideally, you will have experience delivering one or more of the following arts:

• Visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, set design, woodwork)

• Photography and mixed media (Photoshop, Canva and video editing)

• Textiles including fashion & costume design

• Performing arts (dance, drama, music)

You will have experience of:

Working with young people aged 8 to 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) in a range of settingsEngaging vulnerable, disengaged or hard to reach young people in activitiesExperience of delivering visual arts / arts and craft sessionsExperience of team working and working alongside volunteersAble to plan and evaluate the programme of activities, including production of session plans and evaluationsKnowledge of health and safety, diversity awareness and safeguarding best practice

In accordance with Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires an enhanced DBS check.
