Regional Director, West Midlands

Starting Salary GBP127,455 p/a FTE (rising via annual increments to GBP139, 047)

Hours: Part Time Hours Considered

The Elliot Foundation is a successful, charitable multi-academy trust specialising in primary academies. We touch the lives of 13,990 children in 33 schools across three different regions; the West Midlands, East Anglia and London, where our Head Office is based. Over the last ten years we have created a thriving and diverse family of schools, committed to improving outcomes for all children, resourced by people who really want to make a difference, in an organisation that is relentlessly positive and ambitious.

Education support to academies is currently led by a team of three Regional Directors, one for each regional cluster, and a Director of Curriculum and Development. Between them, these four roles support, challenge and provide strategic guidance to build school improvement, and secure the Trust's aims of strong and successful outcomes for children. The education team is part of the wider Operations Group, which incorporates finance, risk, HR, legal, estates, procurement, IT, compliance and communications leaders, and takes a holistic approach to supporting schools and each other.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join us as a second Regional Director for West Midlands, providing leadership to this growing cluster of 13 busy, happy schools and around 5,000 pupils. You will work alongside the existing Senior Regional Director to foster the development of a self-determining, sustainable and collaborative system, which provides an outstanding learning journey for pupils and has confidence in its ability to support itself. While maintaining the value of local agency, you'll encourage schools to make the most of being a part of a thriving regional and national group of academies, and to take pride in their membership of TEFAT.

Candidates will be experienced school and system leaders with a particular expertise in primary education, and we expect that you will have knowledge of Ofsted inspections under the new framework. We want to hear from those who can model and develop a positive culture, in which both local and system leadership make a powerful contribution to delivering our ambition. Strong candidates will also have a lively commitment to their own development, and we would welcome the chance to support you in achieving further professional or academic qualifications.

The Elliot Foundation Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks including a Barred List and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of the Regional Director role is to improve educational and social outcomes for all children in all schools. You'll achieve this by:

Knowing all your schools and their respective contexts Identifying regional priorities that transcend individual schools Shaping a regional common purpose with your school leaders towards those priorities Setting expectations, based on a shared understanding of current reality, of each school leader Signposting school leadership and staff to support networks inside and outside the Trust Commissioning additional support where existing support networks are insufficient to achieve desired outcomes at sufficient speed Problem solving and capacity building where the above is not achieving desired outcomes Regional Directors report to the CEO, and are part of the Operations Group. This group, chaired by the CEO, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trust, and meets fortnightly either face-to-face or via teleconference. Other members of the Group include the executive directors of the Trust (including the FD, HR, Legal and Governance, Estates Director, Programme Director, Director of Curriculum and Virtual Learning and other invitees as necessary.)

The West Midlands cluster includes academies in Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall. These are happy and flourishing schools, addressing the challenges of their localities with determination and a positive mindset, and with an absolute focus on the child in every case.
