Prospectus is delighted to have partnered with a busy and well–established advice centre in North London, in their search for a Welfare Benefits Advisor. Paperweight is a fast–growing volunteer–led charity providing free specialist help to those in the Jewish community struggling with administrative, financial and welfare issues. Compassion and empathy is at the core of everything they do, and they are looking for an advisor with these qualities to join them.
Working alongside a dynamic and dedicated team, you will support clients along the entire journey of their benefit application, handling complex welfare benefits cases, including helping to prepare mandatory reconsideration requests and tribunal appeals. You will build strong relationships with other organisations, the local authorities and other agencies through meetings and events. You will also attend on–going training as it's crucial to stay informed about current political and economic drivers of social injustice and changes in legislation that affect the clients that Paperweight works with.
Ideal candidates will have demonstrable experience in a welfare rights advice service, ideally with a proven track record of successful client outcomes at appeals tribunals. Strong communication, interpersonal skills and a non–judgemental outlook are essential for working with clients, and knowledge of key issues causing economic injustice and hardship is highly desirable.
This in an exciting role with opportunity for progression. The position is mainly office–based with the opportunity to work from home for a maximum of 2 days a week. Candidates looking to work 4 days a week will be considered.
Please apply with your CV and a supporting statement only in the first instance (in Microsoft Word format); we are reviewing CVs on an ongoing basis, so it is highly recommended to submit your application as soon as possible.
