Set against the backdrop of new Resources and Waste Strategy, you will be working with a range of local authorities, government bodies and independent companies to navigate new policies and ultimately support the transition to reduced landfill and net–zero.What you'll be doing:Primary duties include: Knowledge: Bringing your knowledge of the resources sector to the team to cover service delivery, procurement, strategic planning, infrastructure development and more.Leadership and Performance Management: Setting a clear vision for the workstream and developing a plan to achieve this. You will provide strategic oversight, inspiriting and directing the team to ensure workstream goals are delivered. This role will include the management and development of the Waste Strategy core team, supporting all members of the team to aid their professional development. You will be responsible for the performance of your team and delivering on financial targets.Client relationship management: Maintaining excellent relationships with clients through the key touch points in project delivery. You will ensure clients are well informed and engaged in the project direction, receiving the level of value they expect from the work.Business development: Using your commercial acumen and market knowledge, you will proactively seek new business opportunities, overseeing and preparing proposals for new work.Project direction: You will support the Project Manager and oversee on project performance. This includes work quality, budgeting, timescales, and client relationship management. What experience you'll need to apply?The ideal candidate will have experience in waste and resource management in both a local authority and consultancy setting. However, please reach out if you have any questions regarding the role requirements, as there is some flexibility.This role will be a perfect fit for you if you have: A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.Experience in sustainable resource management including local authority waste and resource management, service development and delivery.Experience in managing and delivering on technical waste and resources consultancy work.Good knowledge of local authority governance and contract procurement specific to waste management services.Knowledge centred around current and future waste and resource policy, and how this links to broader net–zero and wider sustainability issues.Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills.Proven project management experience, being used to providing guidance and direction as required. You will enjoy working independently and as part of a team, and will have familiarity in monitoring and evaluation processes.Team management experience, being keen to mentor, motivate and coordinate more junior team members.Business development, networking and marketing skills. This will include a track record in bid writing and revenue generation.The ability to analyse complex information and data sets. You will be able to take your findings and make recommendations for improvement.Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work under pressure.IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
