The role
Uppingham School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Jazz Pianist to join our excellent musical team.
Our keyboard department is a flourishing and thriving faculty, with a reputation for excellence. With over a hundred student pianists and organists at Uppingham, we are increasingly aware of the need to expand our jazz piano provision to students.
Working over two days per week, you will contribute to our many jazz-specific performance platforms throughout the year, leading workshops, assisting in the preparation of JPMT concerts, and coaching students in the fundamentals of jazz harmony, improvisation and performance.
About you
With demonstrable experience as a professional performer at a high level and good experience of teaching music to children of different ages and abilities, we are looking for a personable, inspiring and supportive musician, who can motivate and engage pupils and work closely with our Head of Jazz, Pop and Music Tech, to make this exciting area of musical provision accessible to pupils across the school.
Due to the current high demand for keyboard lessons at the school, the ability to teach classical piano alongside jazz lessons would be highly desirable.
