Branch
Skeldale Veterinary Hospital Medivet 24 Hour Thirsk is a thriving practice set in North Yorkshire in the market town of Thirsk. Our practice has a history that few other practices can boast of: we are the original home of the one and only James Herriot (Alf White) and we pride ourselves on maintaining the historic client focused ethos of the practice. The practice is now located in a large purpose built building in Thirsk (although the old surgery in town is worth a visit!) and is an RCVS practice standard scheme accredited hospital and emergency service centre, as well as being an ISFM gold level accredited cat friendly practice.
This is a busy branch with a large client base where no two days are like the other. The caseload varies from routine consultations to procedures, with emergency and critical care for our own clients as well as clients from surrounding practices for whom we provide out of hours care to.
We are a historic practice with a rich heritage and we honour that by building strong relationships with each other and our clients while pushing forward with new techniques and management of cases. We encourage growth in all our staff and opportunities for further education and study are encouraged and enthusiastically supported. We are experienced in training new vets and student nurses and enjoy providing new colleagues with the opportunity to find and pursue their passions. The team is dynamic, overflowing with enthusiasm and drive which is contagious and makes everyone strive to achieve their best.
North Yorkshire is a beautiful area, with several world heritage sites on our doorstep as well as national parks, areas of outstanding natural beauty, National Trust, and English Heritage properties. Yorkshire is perfect for adventure, but also for relaxation with an abundance of fine dining, as well as traditional pub grub nearby.
