Ziggy's story

　　Ziggy: approx. 6 year old, black & tan, neutered male, natural ears, docked tail. 11" & 11 lbs. Fully Vetted and Micro chipped. Rescued from a hoarding situation.

　　Ziggy is the sweetest, cuddliest and happiest little guy weighing around 11 pounds. He gets along well with his dog siblings and does not pay attention to the resident cat. He loves most everyone he sees and he doesn't seem to remember the horrors of his past. His ability to leave and all that he's gone through behind and move forward to a better life is inspirational. His attitude seems to be; what is done is done and today is a great day, so life is good!

　　Ziggy is one of the "Hoarder 8" that IMPS brought in from a hoarder where he was living in a small crate, in a dark shed with little to no contact with humans or other animals. Ziggy had a growth on his right front leg that was so large and so intertwined with the joint above his foot and the bones in his feet that it could not be removed. He could not use his foot, making it difficult for him to move about swinging a giant club at the end of his leg. In addition, he was in desperate need of dental care. His teeth have been cleaned and the infected teeth extracted. Once the infection was cleared from his mouth and at his vet's recommendation, his right front leg was amputated.

　　From the time Ziggy came home from his surgery, he has adapted to his leg amputation like a champ! He recovered rapidly and without any visible signs of distress. His energy level went up and keeping him calm while he healed was a bit of a challenge. After his stitches came out, he's been running around like he had four legs, not three, and even runs up the 7 steps at the back of his foster home thoroughly enjoying his newly found freedom. Ziggy's vet detected no sign of malignancy from the growth, and Ziggy has been given a "clean bill of health".

　　When Ziggy first arrived at his foster home, his eyes were so cloudy that his foster mom thought he might be blind. This has cleared significantly with exposure to light, and although there is some cloudiness remaining, he can definitely see well.

　　Ziggy will have an occasional accident in the house, but is more than happy to go outside as long as his humans remember to take him out several times a day. He is leash trained, loves riding in the car, and goes into stores with his foster mom in a carrier where he proudly rides in the cart, just happy to be able to see what is going on in the world around him. He will occasionally bark, but not excessively and usually quiets when asked. Because Ziggy has a bit of grey in the muzzle and has three legs, not four, he is not suitable for a home with small children. Ziggy loves being with his foster siblings, so if you have another dog for him to interact with, he'll love that.

　　Ziggy is a little older dog, but having a little older dog is wonderful! They are done with the crazies so they are not destructive and have calmed down from their puppy and adolescent years. While they still have plenty of life and energy left, they tend to be much calmer, giving you the best of both worlds.

　　Now Ziggy just needs a stable, forever home where he can be the center of his human's world, and where they can be the center of his. A home where his humans will continue to show him the world he has missed so much of. A world filled with light, love, freedom and knowing he belongs in a family who will give him the attention and the care he so lacked such a short time ago.
