My story
07/17/21 This handsome big boy is Zeus. If you have never owned an Alaskan Malamute please do research prior to adopting as they can be stubborn pups that need the right special owner! With that being said Zeus was said to be good with babies, children, and adults. He is said to housebroken, kennel trained, and rides well in vehicles (however he was kenneled in the truck when he arrived here at the shelter). Zeus is said to know a few basic commands such as sit, stay, and lay down. He is a big strong boy so it will be important for his new owner to keep up on his training! Per his previous owner, Zeus can be `iffy` when it comes to other dogs, so please use caution if you choose to introduce Zeus to other dogs. He was said to be good with cats and ignores pocket pets, but please use caution if you choose to introduce Zeus to smaller animals as Alaskan Malamutes can have high prey drives and Zeus may not immediately know that new little critters are friends, not food. Zeus' previous owner stated that he is a lazy laid back pup who like his space. He is a friendly boy and has done great with his animal tenders here at the shelter! If this guy strikes your fancy please give the shelter a call!Zeus' owner let us know that he had a vaccine reaction to the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine when he was under a previous owner's care, so the most recent owner had not attempted to vaccinate him for kennel cough.
We were able to vaccinate Zeus for Bordetella here at the shelter without issue, but a new owner should definitely forward that information on to their regular veterinarian in case they would like to take any precautions.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt ZEUS, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
