Zara's story
Zara is a "special" dog who will need a very special (patient and dog-savvy) adopter. Zara was found in the desert in really bad shape. In any other shelter she likely would have been put down immediately, but thanks to PACC and her dedicated foster, she was saved and is recovering nicely. However, it's apparent that Zara never knew humans or dogs before she was found, so she has a LONG way to go before she becomes a "normal" dog.
Special Needs: Though Zara currently lives with other dogs and children, I would not consider her safe for public outings or with other dogs or children until she has been fully integrated into a new "pack" and received further training. She was severely unsocialized and will need a very patient, dog-savvy home that's willing to work on her long-term issues. She is terrified of leaving her "safe space", cannot walk on a leash, can be very awkward toward some humans, and may be unpredictably aggressive toward other animals. However, once comfortable and trained within her "pack" she has shown that she is capable of being loving, tolerant, and obedient. Please contact her foster family for more information.
