Description

  My story

04/09/22 Yukon has come back to the shelter after a couple months in his adopted home. He is large boy who was getting aggressive toward the smaller dogs in the home over food and toys. He apparently likes to go to the dog park and has done well there, however we are still requiring he go to a home with no other dogs and would caution his new owners to make sure he is well controlled before going out into such social situations. He can not go to a home with pocket pets as his prey drive is too high. He is housebroken and will walk toward the door and circle around to alert you when he needs to go out. He is outgoing and loves all people. He has never been around children or babies however and we are requiring he go to a home with no kids under 5. He still has some young dog tendencies like chewing, digging, getting things off counters and generally not having manners or basic obedience. This guy would be a great candidate for dog training classes. Yukon does not like going into a kennel. If you are interested in this big, strong guy, then please give the shelter a call!01/18/22 This handsome big boy is Yukon. Yukon was surrendered to the shelter after only 5 days in his previous home. His prior owners stated that he may have separation anxiety and has destroyed a kennel in their home. Yukon was said to be friendly towards strangers and adults. We do not know how he does with children. Yukon is a strong boy and doesn't quite seem to understand his size. If you are not familiar with Malamutes we strongly encourage you to research the breed prior to enquiring about adoption. Yukon has a history of jumping on people and counters. As such, we are requiring that Yukon go to a home without children under 5 years. He was also known how to dig. Yukon would benefit from going to a basic obedience class as his previous owners stated that he does not mind well. When he wants to he does know the commands sit and paw! It is unknown how Yukon interacts with smaller critters and he was said to whine when seeing other dogs. If you are choosing to introduce him to other furry friends please make sure to do so in a safe, slow, and controlled environment. Yukon does not appear fully housebroken and likes to mark. We are hoping by neutering him that it might curb his marking behavior. His new owners should be prepared to continue on working with him and potty training. If you are interested in meeting Yukon please give the shelter a call!April 14, 2022, 6:21 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt YUKON, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
