Yukinobu Chai was a leading master luthier who made guitars out of Tokyo for soloists and ensembles. This guitar explains why. The sound is rich, detailed, balanced and well... posh. The projection is excellent and the craftsmanship superb. This would be perfect as a main or touring concert guitar (leave the Torres home) or in any discerning musicians arsenal. The No 15 was $150000 yen new, approx $8K now. I believe solid spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back, sides and bridge with ebony fingerboard, The carved headstock is probably custom order. The multi-ply binding is wood maybe walnut. There are two very minor cracks in the back of the body and one at least seems slightly visible from inside the body but have no effect on sound or playablity. There are many scratches, gouges, dings, dents all around, especially the back and honest play wear to the top thats worn the finish off at the pinky. Its in pretty fine shape for nearly 50 yrs of service. Comes in a hard case. I prefer in person collection in L.A. but will ship to US 48 for $55. International buyers please contact me first to discuss shipping. I dont inflate costs or charge for packing so you pay what I pay to send it.
