WILLY's story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Willy is sweet, friendly, gentle, and lovable. He's a simple dog who needs a simple life: a comfortable home, a yard to explore and "chase" birds (he doesn't try very hard!), and parents who provide attention and affection. Willy is a great companion for doing chores or relaxing and watching the day unfold.
A herder and a guarder by nature; Willy is intelligent, watchful, and generally calm. He has an independent spirit but is also very in tune with human emotions and requires a calm lifestyle with adults who appreciate his desire to please. Willy is the exact opposite of the dogs who yearn for continual change and action. He will thrive in a home where his humans are home most of the day and include him in their activities.
He loves to explore the yard and accompany you while you do chores or read a book. He also enjoys being massaged and brushed, and he loves to be spoken to, snuggled, and praised! We are working on nutrition and exercise for excess poundage and he's blossoming!
Willy is polite and very well-trained - he knows "sit" (waits patiently to be leashed, and sits to wait at door or curb when asked), knows "down" -- and tries hard not to jump up! (If he does jump up, it's out of sheer joy/excitement, and he avoids touching or pushing!)
No worries about Willy brushing items off of the coffee table - his tail is a short, fluffy nub! Willy only seems to bark to announce when he sees something that "doesn't belong" - so he is likely to be quiet in a backyard with a proper wall.
As with any large breed, daily exercise, quality large-breed nutrition, and joint supplements (fish oil, glucosamine/chondroiton) will maintain his best form and health.
Willy will not tolerate another dog being intrusive or creating upheaval, so we're searching for a home where he will be the centerpiece and "only dog"!

**IMPORTANT**
"Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence . (It does not mean a nearby fenced area/dog park.)
Gates must have padlocks and thresholds (cement or buried pavers to prevent digging.)
Yard and patio must be free of debris and have room for dogs to run and play on a lawn and/or a very shaded area.
We do not place dogs in situations where there are "drained" or empty swimming pools, which are a fall hazard and contribute to the propogation of mosquitos.
We DO NOT adopt to students as we have found that they often do not know or anticipate where life is taking them next.
Dogs remain posted while we screen potential adopters. As long as dog is designated "Available" we continue to accept applications.
We are staffed by all volunteers and use an application protocol to handle all inquiries about adoptable dogs. This system enables an efficiency that allows us to save and care for more dogs. Discussion about a dog - including scheduling of a home check or other dialogue - cannot occur until we have received your completed adoption application. NO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you!
