Willow 29902's story
Willow is a 3-year-old female Terrier who must be spayed before she is adopted. She was brought to PAHS as a stray and her owner never came looking for her. 'Special Needs' has been indicated on Willow's bio because she has tested positive for heart worms. We need a foster for Willow for about a month while she is having her heartworm treatments. PAHS will pay for the treatments; and we will provide everything her foster needs--food, bed, crate, etc. Now back to Willow--she has a wiry looking coat that is very soft. Her coat is brown and white with a mixture of black highlights mixed in it. Willow weighs 40 pounds so she is considered to be a medium sized adult dog. She is friendly, sweet--and she is good with children and other dogs. Willow is both leash trained and house trained. During her heart worm treatments she will need to be kept crated except for leash walks for bathroom breaks. During heart worm treatments it is very important for Willow to be kept as inactive as possible for her own safety. If you are interested in helping out this precious girl by fostering her for about a month we would certainly appreciate it and Willow would love you forever. If interested in being Willow's foster please call the shelter () Monday--Friday between 11:00 and 4:00 and ask to speak to Shelter Director, Claudia Rigsby.
You may remember our directed spay/neuter campaign this past spring--'Spay Neuter Autauga County'-- which was made possible by a $20,000 Petco Lifesaving Grant. PAHS has remaining funds from this grant and we are happy to announce that effective December 1, 2018 all adoptions will be reduced by half! For the month of December (as funds will allow) cat adoption fees will be $25 and dog adoptions $60. We are thrilled to offer this gift to the animals and people of our community. Upon partnering with Petco and receiving these monies, PAHS pledged to work toward 'live outcomes' with shelter animals; we believe half-price adoptions will fulfill this promise and is a great way to end the year! Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, discounted spay/neuter certificate, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heartworm negative.
