For sale is a 1960's Singer Model 457 zig-zag sewing machine and Early American-style cabinet. My mother purchased this set new and I used it in the 1970's to sew a down jacket (Frostline kit) and panniers (saddle bags) for bicycle touring. It worked great. It is said that this model can sew leather. The machine, cabinet, stool, foot pedal, accessories, and manual are all in very good condition.
The stool seat removes for storage of sewing accessories. The regular foot as well as a zipper foot and specialized foot are included. Tools, bobbins, and needles are included.
The machine was manufactured in Great Britain. This set includes everything needed to get started, except for the thread (but, I'll throw in a spool or two if you would like). The machine has not been used much for about 20 years, so would benefit from a cleaning, adjustment, and lubrication performed by a professional. I tested it and it produced a nice and even straight stitch on thick denim.
I would like to sell the set together, but would consider selling the machine alone for $125 and the cabinet for $20.
Pick up only, please.
