Vintage Original Oil Painting Signed B. Shields Winter Landscape 12"H IndianaThis gorgeous winter countryside landscape style oil painting is signed "B. Shields" and will make a wonderful addition to your collection. I believe it is an early work painted by Southern Indiana artist Bonnie Shields, famous for her mule & donkey art illustrations, but I cannot confirm or guarantee. The signature letter styling, shapes, and proportions are in agreement with signatures shown on her published work but I cannot find any references to or images of older landscapes such as this piece that are officially attributed to her. The piece does have wear including discoloring/darkening, fraying along the edges of the canvas wrap, dirt, dust, grime and more so please read complete details below and review photos closely for condition. Thank you and enjoy!ITEM DETAILS:Approximate weight is 10 ozsMeasures approximately 1/8" thick x 12" tall x 15-7/8" wide (roughly)Condition: In vintage pre-owned handmade condition with wear including dirt, dust, grime, stains, dents, dings, scuffing, abrasions, patina, tarnish, the corners of the canvas panel are frayed and the edges are raw, there are marks along the edge of the painting front where a frame overlapped and dirt settled along the edge and paint pulled away from the painting leaving voids, there is a white spot/mark at the top of the painting just above the top of the tree, there is a 2" vertical line at the top of the painting from the edge approximately 1" to the left of the tree that appears to be a scratch in the painted surface, there is a whitish mark around 1" above the steeple of the church building, paint voids around the edge of the painting, at least one liquid or water stain on the back side, brittleness, the back is scratched, there is a cut mark on the back in addition to dents and other marks/stains, the back has discolored/darkened, there are frayed marks on each end edge where screws held the painting into a frame (I am guessing) , there are stains along the edge of the painted panel due to where the framing overlapped the surface, the canvas panel is somewhat bowed from end to end, scratches, abrasions, scuffing, fading, overall darkening of the painting surface due to being exposed to air pollutants in an enclosed environment for what I would guess was decades and overall wear from age and handling.
