Matching pair of vintage pins in the shape of a star, with 5 points rendered in teardrop-cut rhinestones arrayed around a central chaton. Stones are set in a metal backing fitted with a tie-tack pin that locks securely into a dimpled butterfly clutch until the "wings" are squeezed to release it. Pin sets such as this were popular at mid-century to dress up the corners of a square-cut neckline on a dress or the collar of a twinset sweater. Today their simple shape and soft shimmer would add a stylish retro touch on a jacket lapel, turtleneck, hat, or scarf.Good condition overall. Stones excellent, finish worn on backing.0.875" DIAca. 1950sPins unmarkedPin clutch marked "PAT 196" (these are the patent numbers of clutches designed by F.A.
