I have this very unique & vintage sewing box for sale. However, I've been using it as a one-of-a-kind jewelry box and it's been quite a conversation piece as well!
I'm not certain of the type of wood but I suspect it's walnut or mahogany for it has a substantial weight to it. The faux green marble finish shown in the photos is original to the piece as are the drawer pulls. Though it appears to have two drawers, it has only one. The reason I say it was, originally, a sewing box becomes evident when you view the photo with the top up. The underside of the top has two rows with wooden pegs attached (presumably for spools of thread) however I hung necklaces & bracelets from them.. The center of the main box is quite deep and there's those 3 divided mini-"pockets" along the inside to store all manner of items.
Dimensions:
16" wide x 12 1/2" deep x 9"high.
Given its uniqueness, size, type of drawer pulls, the hinge that holds the cover up and its overall construction, I'm estimating it to be at least 75 years old. So, if you are looking for a distinctive sewing, jewelry or treasure box, you really should come and see it! I'm asking $160 or best off
