Vintage Heart Valentine?s Day Card (#E5) $14
* Wow! Do you want to preserve and share history? Check this out! *
This is a rare vintage Valentine?s Day Card, made in United States and found in an attic of an old farm house in Illinois. The card was manufactured by the Beistle Company in Shippensburg, PA, established in 1900. It was designed to pop-out and set-up, giving the card a 3-dimensional effect.
The signature on the back of the card indicates it was ?From Lucile?. I don?t have any information on this person, but the card was found in Mrs. Shaw?s stack of cards. She was a school teacher in the early 1920?s at Parker School House in Iroquois County, Illinois. It was noted that the original school house burned down that year and the new faculty which was built lasted for over 37 years. The institute had a number of teachers since its inception in the early 1830?s, but it seems that Mrs. Shaw was the last know teacher as the last reported student enrollment was dated to 1941.
The card shows vintage wear but still in fair condition. These normally sell for $25 to $30, but as you can see the price reflects its condition and the card would still make an excellent addition to any vintage Valentine Card collection or a great piece for scrapbooking!
