Vintage Harmony H-51 Archtop Guitar with Gibson P-13 Pickup & Case 1953Up for auction is an H-51 Archtop guitar from Harmony.  This pretty unique Harmony! The H51 line are not generally seen with electric pickups, this example may be a predecessor to the Rocket line, or it may have been modified after it was made.   The instrument is in fair condition for it's age, it has cosmetic wear throughout the body and neck - it shows a lifetime of love and use.  We gave the guitar a quick wipe down with a damp cloth but it could definitely benefit from a thorough, careful cleaning.  The back of the body has a fairly significant crack (picture 18) that will likely need some attention.  The font of the guitar has two small holes where a pick guard was attached at some point (picture 17).  The archtop body features a standard sunburst finish, Gibson P-13 pickup (working)  and two level controls (also working but knobs missing).  The pickup and level knobs will need a cleaning to really shine.  The guitar measures 41" long from the head to the base and 15.5 wide across the body.  The inside of the body is stamped '21907H51' indicating the model and 'S-53-E' indicating that it was made in the spring of 1953.  Along with the instrument you will receive a period correct hard case and vintage 1/4" patch cable.  The cable is quite old and not especially functional. The case has seen some use but remains in good shape - very capable of protecting the instrument.  This is a USED instrument that is UNTESTED. We do not have the experience to say what kind of play quality this instrument may have. We do recommend that all used instruments be fully cleaned and serviced prior to use.
