$350.00 USDAdd to CartI have for sale a Caswell Runyan Treasure Chest, in an exquisite dark Mahogany stain on the outside. This beautiful Cedar Chest is made out of solid wood, solid Cedar wood, and Veneer. This Chest has interesting mechanisms to hold the top open, and it has large round supports on the legs, see pictures. This Cedar Chest has beautiful carved accents on the front. This elegant Cedar Chest was produced by the Caswell Runyan Company, a historical fine furniture manufacturer. It also still has the cedar smell inside! Here are all the wonderful features of this historic, one of a kind piece:-Model# 6826, Cat 204-Approximate age: 1 (from the leg style, nail heads, and mechanisms, I would estimate it is closer to 1910)(I have done some research on this and will pass along all of the details I?ve found on it to the buyer)-Lock says: Yale Made in USA-Stamped 6826 on bottom; On the inside top, it?s written 204/ 6826 (cat & model, I believe)-Measures 29?h (top to bottom) x 48?w (left to right) x 20 ? depth (front to back)-In original condition (has not been repaired or ?updated?), which increases it?s value; it has normal wear and tear of a 100+ year old piece of furniture but nothing of significant consequence (minor scuffing on legs, small water stain on top of piece- see pic-, minor small nicks here & there)-Has original paperwork nailed to the top inside (see pic)-Paperwork states the inside is ?lined with Genuine Tennessee Red Cedar, dried and cured by the Caswell-Runyan Scientific Process, which retains all of the moth-killing aromatic oils in the wood?-A highly collectible piece, and a true piece of American HistoryThe Caswell Runyan Company was formed in 1907 in Huntington, IN. It was the very first American company to manufacture cedar lined chests commercially, prior to that they were usually handmade. They were in business until 1956, where after their building sat vacant until it burned down in 1962. Their work is on display at the Huntington County Historical Society Museum, as it is a true piece of American History. This is a truly unique item and highly collectible; something that you can pass down for generations to come. It is also a LOVELY piece to have in your home.Thank you for window shopping! **(Please contact us for a personalized shipping quote.
