Vintage Argus Showmaster 500 Movie Projector (#259) $75
Attention antique photography or camera buffs?check it out!!!!
You are looking at a late 1950s early 1960?s Argus Showmaster 500 8mm movie projector (automatic threading) which was ahead of its time. Argus was an American maker of cameras and photographic products, founded in 1936 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Argus was acquired by Sylvania in 1959 and sold off in 1969, by which time it had ceased camera production (some rebadged cameras continued to be sold under the Argus name through the 1970s).(a) These were the good old days when things were built to last to be handed down for generations.
This light compact projector comes in a nice turquoise green metal case with a top handle and the old fashion 2-prong electric plug and cord is in excellent condition. The projector turns on, as well as the light, and runs well in both directions with very soft noise compared to others I have seen. It is in excellent condition for its age and it shows well.
With this vintage piece of mid-century decor, you get a taste of the yesteryears and you will appreciate how movies were shown in the past. These types of projectors are scarce and becoming harder to find especially in good working condition. This would make a great gift for an antique photography or camera enthusiast or it can make a cool display in any office or shop or a media room. This is truly a collector?s item.
Don?t miss out, another impressive addition and a must have for any camera collection.
