Circa 1900 Cammeyer 5 string banjo. Set up and ready to play. Nice action suitable for clawhammer or any old time two finger technique. String height is .25 at the 12th fret. Restrung in medium Aquila nylgut with a Yellowstone fiber skin head. 11.5” spun over pot with tone ring. Scale length is 27”. Straight neck. It appears to have the original shoes and hooks. Reproduction 1881 patent Dobson tailpiece. Walnut neck with MOP inlays. Walnut friction tuners. The tuners are not original, but are period replacements. Like any friction tuners, these need to be seated once brought to pitch. After that, you’re off to the races! The strings are seated and have gone through their stretch in period. This banjo is LOUD but not “tinny”. I’d describe it as “A warm twang”. The pot and hardware are dull and have not been polished. This is a very well built British banjo with quality components. Winning bidder pays flat shipping of $35.00 to the Lower 48.
