Vintage, 100+ years IHC Chain Breaker Tool Q-5027 (#245) $47
Attention antique tool collectorscheck this out!
You are looking at a vintage International Harvester Company (IHC) Chain Breaker tool, most likely for the early 1900s. It was found in the barn of my father- in-laws dads tool box in Boulder, Colorado. The tool is also known as a flat chain breaker which he most likely used for separating the chain and rivets from his farm equipment, such as manure spreaders, barn hay elevators, conveyors, hay balers, etc.
The slots in the tool are for different size chains. Depending on the size of the chain it would slide into the open space and lock to hold the joint tight to be able to pound the damaged link and pin out of the slot.
This tool has been used over the many years and shows its character, but it is in good condition with no breaks, cracks or repairs and will display pretty well. It would make a great gift or an addition to any collection.
