Viernes's story
Our Friday luck, Viernes.
Viernes, our V, is an approximately 1 year old, long hair Dachshund-Australian Shepard mix (we think). V came to us from an Ensenada kill shelter where she was marked to be put down that very Friday. But not happening, with TAP doing all they can!
V came to us a very fearful, distrusting little pup, and we dont blame her! She has been through so much in her short little life. With a lot of patience and hard work, V has finally warmed up to her foster parents, and feels comfortable in their home. However, she is still battling with fear of the unknown, getting scared around new people and new places. She is also very fearful of being on a harness/leash, and will need someone who can work on this with her. Even with all her fears, V has proven to be an extremely resilient, sweet little girl. She is playful now that she's out of her shell. She loves playing with her doggie foster brothers, running around with her toys, and snuggling with her foster mom. She also loves to sniff noses with her foster moms cat! V is making huge strides with house training, and just learned sit. She is a very smart girl!
We are confident V is capable of overcoming her fears, but will need just the right family to help her get there. Once adopted, there will need to be a gradual introduction period with her new family; coming over to the fosters house (where she is most comfortable right now) for some playtime and bonding. V would do best in a home with another small dog (helps her with her confidence), a fenced yard (where she can go potty without having to be on a leash), and with someone who is home a majority of the day who has the time to work with her. V will also do best with experienced adopters who can help her with her fears and help her socialize. Love and lots of patience will go a long way with her. Sweet, little V is such a special girl, and we know her perfect forever family is out there! Her adoption fee is $300, which includes her spay, shots and microchip.
