　　A VERY RARE LATE 18TH CENTURY CHIPPENDALE PERIOD SOUTHERN STATES AMERICAN SPLAYED LEG ONE DRAWER TAP TABLE IN WALNUT WITH ITS ORIGINAL TWO PIECE ROUND SOUTHERN HARD RED PINE TOP ALL IN THE GRUNGIEST ORIGINAL THIN COAT SPANISH BROWN STAIN.

　　THIS IS A VERY RARE AND EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TABLE FROM THE NORTHERN PART OF VIRGINIA OR SOUTHERN MARYLAND AND FURTHER RESEARCH SUCH BE UNDERTAKEN TO DETERMINE AN ATTRIBUTION.

　　IT IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL INCLUDING SURFACE.

　　IT HAS TAPERING SQUARE LEGS THAT ARE CANTED AS WELL.

　　THE ORIGINAL TWO BOARD ROUND TOP IS IN SOUTHERN RED PINE AND HELD ON BY THE ORIGINAL THRU MORTISE BRACKET THAT GOES THROUGH THE APRONS OF THE BASE AS WELL AS THE FOUR ORIGINAL PEGS.

　　THE DRAWER IS A SIMPLE NAILED PIECE WITH ITS ORIGINAL TURNED WOOD KNOB. THE SIDES HAVE A CUT TO ALLOW IT TO SLIDE OVER THE BRACKET.

　　THE SURFACE IS THE BEST. IT RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL SPANISH BROWN STAIN AND VARNISH, THE TOP HAS A LITTLE MORE RED FROM THE RED PINE.

　　COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED AND ALL ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE OF ADDED NAILS OVER THE YEARS.

　　IT IS IN A WONDERFUL OLD COLOR AND SURFACE.

　　27" tall, the top is about 28" across with proper shrinkage.
