My story

　　Erick aka Gus is a black/white/rust tri 4 yr old neutered French Brittany w/ a docked tail.  He is 60 lbs, so we think he might have something else in him, but his tail is docked, so not sure.  He is utd on all his vaccines (on prevention), housebroken, microchipped and crate trained. 

　　Gus is a sweet boy that has had a very hard life.  He's got some scars to prove it but hasn't let that tarnish his love for humans.  He LOVES to give face kisses and will snuggle if no other dogs are on the couch.  The other dogs easily push him away from the *preferred snuggle spot but we make specific time just for Gus.  He leans in and soaks up all the lovins.  

　　When I picked him up, he was dirty, smelly, yeasty, and matted.  He did so good in his first bath (and since) and let me cut the mats off his chest.  We are still battling some itchy skin, but his calluses are softening up.  I'm not sure they will ever be covered in hair but honestly you can't see them unless you brush the hair back now.  His teeth are all in good shape (why the vet thinks he's only 4 years old) except for the bottom K9s and incisors.  His front teeth are gone, bottom k-9’s  are rubbed to the gums and the incisors have been removed.  Top points removed.  I will load a picture in his bio. He has a pretty significant overbite. Gus has some tendency for resource guarding his kennel when eating but only against dogs, never humans.  He is fond of his kennel as it's a safe place for him.  At night about 9 pm he will put himself to bed, which is so cute.  We close the kennel when we go to bed. We changed his name to Gus because he's more of a Texas cowboy Gus than a city slicker Erik.

　　The best home for Gus is a home without other dogs or at least one with a low-key personality.  He's not a fan of other dogs jumping on his back.  He'll play fine but then eventually has an issue.  More training and lots of love and care will help this guy out.  He's got the best teddy bear eyes I've ever seen and is really going to make someone a good dog.  He's very low energy most of the time but will get up and run after a squirrel if prompted.  His recall is perfect and walks on a leash really well, but we haven't worked on much obedience.

　　Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles

　　Medical Note: This poor boy has been abused but has nothing but love in his heart to give.  He was heartworm positive and Ehrlichia positive.  All have been treated and we are just wrapping up his hw treatment.  He will be ready to go home the end 3rd or 4th weekend in February.  We removed a growth (benign). You are welcome to talk to the vet.
