Give Me a Home in Time for Me to Meet Santa!

The Humane Society of West Alabama's Home for the Holidays campaign aims to have as many homeless pets home by the end of December as possible! During November & December 2012, we've waived adoption fees for adult cats 1 year and older and reduced younger cats' fees to only $40! Make a cat's Christmas wish come true!

This sweet little man is Derek, a short-haired black and white male Tuxedo kitten. He's approximately 12 weeks old (10/29/12). He has the most adorable markings!! He almost looks like a Boston Terrier puppy, but with a pink nose and kitty ears instead! Derek is a sweet, friendly little guy! He loves to purr and cuddle, and isn't very shy about asking for attention. He loves bird-watching from windows, and doesn't mind sharing a cuddly bed with another kitty during naptime. He's been polite and gentle with children, but we aren't sure how he feels about dogs. Stop in at our cat adoption center or contact us to meet Derek!

Negative for FIV and FeLK and current on vaccinations.

Since Derek is too young to be neutered, an additional $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption to reinforce state law for all shelter animals to be fixed before or after adoption. If the animal is too young to be fixed prior to adoption, the adopter is required by law to assume responsibility for spay/neuter of the animal by age 6 mos. The spay/neuter deposit is refunded later upon delivery of proof (a certificate or vet records) that the kitten has been fixed. Pediatric spaying/neutering is an option to discuss with your vet around 4 months of age.

Our adoption fee is $75, a fee to help defray a fraction of vet costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care, and are not available for adoption until they are cleared by one of our trusted local veterinarians. Read up on our adoption process . Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt this kitten, submit an online application form.
