TRUMAN's story
Look what we learned about Truman in short term foster care!
Foster Q & A:
Would you say this animal is vocal, quiet or somewhere in between? Mostly quiet. Does not bark, unless there is someone outside the house he doesnt know.
How would you describe your home environment (calm, busy, chaotic, etc) Calm
Is s/he fearful of any objects, situations, or people? (if so, describe) He can be somewhat fearful of sudden, unfamiliar noises. Very friendly with new people. Rides fairly well in a car, but he wont get in by himself.
When left alone, where does he sleep? Crated, at night. He will go in by himself. He will also go into the crate during the day for naps, or sleep on blankets outside of the crate. He never tries to get up on furniture or beds.
What toys, if any, does your foster enjoy playing with? Rope toy, cardboard boxes, and a stuffed toy and 2 bones that were given to us by PACC. Loves to play with toys, but loses interest quickly.
What words and qualities best describe your foster (friendly, reserved, cuddly, couch potato, etc)?
- At home he is usually calm and will nap off and on until after lunch, as long as hes been exercised adequately the day before.
- He likes to know where you are in the house, but he doesnt need to be at your side every minute.
- In the morning he will go out to pee, but doesnt want to go far from the house.
- He becomes quite active mid-afternoon, and around dinner time. Late afternoon walks seem to work best for him.
- He LOVES to eat. We fed him 3x/day: after a short walk when he first gets up @6:30-7am; between noon and 1pm after a walk; and just before our dinner time @6:30-7pm (after he ate he would lie down while we ate).
- Will sit when motivated by food.
- Takes treats eagerly but gently.
- Enjoys being rubbed and can be fun, playful and affectionate; but still needs work understanding not to mouth hands when he gets excited. Occasionally will jump up and put his front paws on you (friendly, not rough).
