*TOMMY (BARN CAT)'s story
Our Very Wonderful BARN CATS are healthy, stray cats who are not suitable for regular adoption due to their feral behavior at the shelter. Healthy, stray cats brought to the shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, ear-tipped, and returned to the location where they were found. This is consistent with the Return to Field program as recommended by Dr. Kate Hurley of UC Davis.
Feral cats who cannot be returned to field given the circumstances of where they were found qualify for our BARN CAT program. To acclimate the Barn Cats to your property you will need to keep the cat(s) in an enclosed structure that will eventually be their home; a barn/shed/garage, for at least two weeks, feeding them at the same time/place every day. The cats must always have this safe, dry shelter with good food and basic care available for the rest of their lives. Barn cats are fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and ear-tipped, at no charge.
Thank you for giving a Barn Cat an opportunity to work for you in exchange for saving its life!
