Timmy is a very special boy. Diagnosed with distemper at just 9 weeks of age, he learned young how to be a survivor. He surprisingly lived, only to be left with long term effects. His neck and front legs are weak. He is able to get around on his own, but will never be able to climb steps. He gets around, it is just in his own unique way. His front legs do get tired, and then he puts his head on the ground and pushes with his back legs, especially inside. Timmy has been fitted with a cart for long walks, and we are still working on getting him use to it. He still has a few twitches, but these to have gotten better the older he has gotten and according to the vet will probably continue to get better.
Timmy loves attention and snuggles. He loves being around other dogs, but some dogs are scared of the way he moves and plays. He is house trained. His strength in his back legs is phenomenal making greeting you and climbing up on a sofa very easy for him. He can sometimes be possessive of toys, which we are diligently working on.
Timmy will come with carts and his raised feeding station. Everyone who meets Timmy are in awe of his progress and his attitude. He has never complained, just a true sweetheart! He does not need anyone to feel sorry for him, just love and care for him!
He will never be able to climb a fourteener so a less active family would suit Timmy best. His foster mom takes him out in the yard and he goes all around on his own and comes back inside when called. He would stay out longer if she would! This does tire him out and he will sleep afterwards, but then he is ready to go again.
