My story
I have met some “scaredy cats” during my tenure but this kitty might be the most terrified. He is my favorite kind of terrified. Instead of fighting, he freezes, cowers, hides. I don’t know much of his story. TIffany said he came up from Texas with a bunch of other similar aged cats all named after Pooh characters. It’s unclear if they were littermates, they were just as likely to have been tossed in a cage together. They were all super outgoing while he just cowered in his cage, terrified. He spent 3 months in the cat shed while he watched the Pooh crew get adopted. I met him one day and promised him I would help him. It took a month from the day I met him until the day I was able to go pick him up. I always feel a little guilty later (like now) when I look back and realize that I let a whole month go by from the day I met him to the day I rescued him. He has been here @Foster Kitty City for a month and is making strides in leaps and bounds and is ready to start meeting human companion candidates.
He is the absolute sweetest cat. Loves to play soccer with all the balls, play fetch with his mice, chase the ‘da bird, play independently with the cat dancer, hunt down his treats, and has recently begun attempting romping and snuggling sessions with Sir W. He is still afraid of me when I approach him especially when I am standing and hides from new people but courageously ventures out when the excitement settles. His true golden love is hard earned: once he is touched, he melts. If he can stand the uncertainty of those first few fearful moments, he will roll over and offer his belly for rubs while softly kneading. He seeks me out, crawls on my lap at work or curls up next to me in bed. He likes to have my skin on him. Once we are touching, he is not afraid anymore. He is special and sweet. He needs a very patient and quiet home. Someone who’s seeking a loyal and loving partner in life and who understands the beauty in earning trust with gentle, kind, patient love.
