TIBBY's story

　　Tibby was adopted from the shelter two months ago and was surrendered for refusing to use the litterbox consistently (either urine or feces). Tibby''s paperwork from his first stay at the shelter did not indicate any issues with litterbox usage and we have not been able to find any medical reason that he might be pottying outside his box; therefore this may be a behavioral problem which will require management of his environment and stress levels, such as ensuring that Tibby has access to many litterboxes throughout the home, and seeing that he goes to a home where he can be an only pet, and without small children.

　　Tibby is a XL sized kitty on a M size frame. It is important to Tibby''s continued health and well being that he stay on a consistent diet that will help him lose weight. Tibby is currently on a prescription weight loss diet; however, we strongly encourage his adopting family to use the free exam coupon included in the adoption packet to consult their regular veterinarian as to the best way to help Tibby lose weight. Because cats are obligate carnivores (they receive their nutrients from meat), they have particular food requirements that must be balanced with any weight loss goals. Being a slimmer kitty will help maintain Tibby''s joints as he gets older and he will be better able to groom himself as he becomes more sleek, which will help improve his hair coat.

　　Tibby''s most recent owners stated that other than his litterbox issues in their home, he is a wonderful and loveable cat whom they hate to give up. He enjoys the company of his family, but may just be a more sensitive kitty that needs a quiet home.
