  TEX IN A NUTSHELL -

A handsome and engaging 10-year-old Cairn who is "all about his people".

TEX requires a "mostly at home" owner who is looking for a walking buddy, a cuddle pal and a best friend.

Perfect companion for a patient retiree who wants to make a little dog an integral part of the household.

If that sounds like you then read on!

  ************************************************************************************************

"Tex" is described by his foster mom as "the sweetest dog in the world".

We know that she might not be 100% objective but the truth is that Tex IS one heck of a great guy!

Tex loves to be with his peeps.

He follows his foster parents wherever they go and would rather sit by them than play with toys.

And when he's trying to be extra charming, he's been known to flop down on his foster mom's lap, roll over and expose his tummy in the hopes of getting special rubs.

Tex is an equal opportunity lover.

He adores people and also gets along well with other dogs.

But like every dog, he has his challenges.

Tex was surrendered to our rescue group by a young family with 2 kids under the age of 2 and he just didn't get the attention and love he needed.

He was often left to his own devices so he will have an occasional accident although he's made huge improvements since coming to his foster home.

He will now go to the door when he has to go out.

And when he is crated, he always keeps his crate dry.

Still...his future family will need to keep a close eye on him, learn his signals and keep him on a schedule.

Currently, Tex sleeps in bed with his foster parents and their other dogs and if he has to go potty during the night, he will scratch at the door to let them know.

Tex is not a high-energy dog.

His foster mom describes him as mellow.

He would be more than happy to sit on a sofa all day as long as his favorite person is alongside him.

Tex would be best suited to a family that is home during the day.

A retired single or couple or a "work from home" dog parent that enjoys walks would be ideal.

Tex would be fine with either a fenced yard or leashed walks. While Tex does just fine with his canine foster siblings he would certainly be happy to be an "only dog" and get all the love and attention a family has to give.

Tex is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and recently had a dental.

He has tested negative for heart worm disease and is on a monthly heart worm and flea/tick preventative.
