Want to adopt Fritz, you do!
This scruffy young man is Fritz, a three year old terrier mix. We see a little Pekingese or maybe Shih Tzu, a little terrier and a lot like Yoda!! Fritz is small, weighing only 10.6 pounds and this is full grown. He has a cute red/black brindle like coat with white patches.
Fritz and we believe his sister, Nanny , were pulled from our local shelter where they had been picked up together by Animal Control where they had been found at an apartment complex. The owners were found and they were signed over as surrenders. Fritz is very sweet and loving but he is not very fond of other dogs beside Nanny. It would be nice to have them go together since they do get along so well but it is not required. We don't think they have been socialized much around other animals.
Fritz should be fine around older children but must be 12 and up due to his size. He would be fine in an apartment as long as he got daily walks and exercise -- he is not real active. We have started Fritz on his crate training. He is up to date on his vet care, neutered, heartworm negative and is microchipped. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Such a cutie, Fritz doesn't understand why he isn't in his old home but we plan to find him one that will be his forever home this time. Update from Foster Home: Fritz is the funniest, sweetest dog I have ever come across. He follows me from room to room just wanting to be RIGHT beside me. He sits up on his hind legs and waves his arms back and forth when he gets excited. At night, he likes to get under the covers and go all the way to the foot of the bed and sleep. At first I was worried that he was going to suffocate, but he growls whenever you try to wake him so I have just let him be. He's still alive so I guess he's fine down there!
As far as socialization goes, he is coming around....slowly. He still doesn't play with Poppy, the other dog in the home, but at least he doesn't growl every time she comes around now. The other day a friend brought over her dachshund named Cornbread and he spent the whole time growling and showing his teeth that we finally had to separate them. What was interesting though was that later when he saw Poppy and Cornbread playing and running around he was kind of following them around and trying to join. I think he just doesn't know how dogs play and what to do and was kind of like...ok this might look fun...
