　　It's easy to adopt me this summer!

　　Throughout this summer 2012, the Humane Society of West Alabama wants to increase my chances at finding my forever home by reducing my adoption fee! Email my rescue group or stop in to meet me!

　　The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer and need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

　　Please meet this pretty young lady named Charlie, a beautiful bright orange and white adult female tabby, with dark orange tabby stripes. She's so much more beautiful in person! She's at least 2 or 3 years old, but younger than 5 or 6 years, vet-estimated. Poor Charlie (we thought she was a boy, but the name stuck before we noticed we were wrong!) was found abandoned at a local apartment complex near the downtown/UA campus area. Her owners moved away, but didn't take Charlie with them. Due to her condition after just a short amount of time, it should have been very clear to her former owners that Charlie was unable to fend for herself. Unfortunately, most abandoned cats aren't as lucky as Charlie. Residents who noticed she wasn't a stray cat grew concerned for her safety, fed her and tried to care for her, but she needed a bit more help - she needed a new home!

　　Charlie suffered a foot injury while she was fending for herself (we hope it wasn't inflicted by her former owners), but there is no wound or lesion, and an x-ray showed no breaks or tearing. It appeared she had a minor injury that was just healing. She seems much better already, and we've been keeping a close watch over it to make sure her limp only improves. (7-11-2012 update: Charlie's foot is doing so well we can't even tell she was ever injured!) Charlie is very chipper, nonetheless! She's a silly and happy girl, and very grateful neighbors noticed she was so sweet and friendly! She hopes you'll come by our cat adoption center to visit her, and hopefully one visitor will be able to give her a permanent home! She is certain she never wants to be left behind again!!

　　Negative for FIV and FeLK, current on vaccinations and has been spayed.

　　Our flat adoption fee is temporarily reduced to only $50, a fee to help defray a fraction of veterinary costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits, and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care. Vet records are provided to adopters. Read up on our adoption process .
