Description

  Tabby - Buff - Mosa - Large - Adult - Male - Cat

It's easy to adopt me this summer!

Throughout this summer 2012, the Humane Society of West Alabama wants to increase my chances at finding my forever home by reducing my adoption fee! Email my rescue group or stop in to meet me!

The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

To adopt, we need to receive an application (link to the online version found below). Some pets could be in foster care. For information on a specific animal, please visit our adoption center or email us at [email removed]!

This is Mosa, an adorable and very loving Beige Tabby (Dilute Orange Tabby). Mosa is an adult at approximately 4 to 5 years old. Mosa is FIV+, with a light case. It's possible Mosa is vaccinated for FIV and is not afflicted with the easily manageable disease. But poor, sweet Mosa was abandoned by his owners, and they certainly didn't leave us his vet records. Unlike other vaccinations, the vacc for FIV will make a cat test positive without a very definitive way to discern the vacc from the actual disease. In animal rescue, this can make or break a situation.

FIV can be transmittable to other cats, but would do no harm to any other species, including humans. So Mosa could live normally in a home without other pets or with dogs or other types of pets. It can be transmitted through blood. It is as difficult to pass on to other cats as AIDS is to pass to other humans. FIV+ cats like Mosa live healthy, long lives all the time without difficulty - the disease simply makes them special. If you'd like to find out a bit more about FIV, you can click the link to read from another rescue group with great success in adopting FIV+ cats: click to read . It's sad to think Mosa's chances are slim simply because his disease can create a bit of fear and worry. He isn't worried about it at all! Please contact us if you'd like to meet this wonderful, sweet and very cuddly guy!! He's just a big baby looking for someone to understand his situation!

Negative for FeLK, tested light positive for FIV. Mosa is current on vaccinations and has been fixed.

MOSA'S ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED. Vet records are provided to adopters. We do not use cages. Read up on our adoption process . Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt Mosa, submit a Word online application form.
