　　  Meet Sweets!UPDATE 12/14/21Oh my goodness, this little thing is cute as she can be! She is your typical short hair, black cat with some little white hairs around her chest and belly (very subtle). This poor girl has been with ARWOB a long time since 05/2021 and we hope the holiday season is the perfect time to finally find her a family of her own to love. She is not a Bombay cat for those who are looking for a hypoallergenic cat. She is your typical house panther elegant in black! She has been fostered in a home with cats and dogs and ignores the dogs and other cats. She is really more focused on people and could care less about other species. So, Sweets is a fantastic match for a working individual or a family with children and not a match for someone looking for a friend for their cat or dog at home, she can cohabitate with them but she is not going to be cuddling or playing with the rest. She is a submissive kitty so she is also not going to be fighting with them ALTHOUGH she currently is residing at our cat adoption center inside the PetSmart in Clairemont and is not happy in such a room surrounded by so many cats. She can be a little cranky when they are too close to her as she doesn't appreciate the lack of personal space and boundaries, can you blame the poor mamasita?Volunteers report Sweets seeks their attention to be petted and perches on the bench sitting down next to them just observing the younger cats running around in the small room, she will swat or hiss sometimes when the other cats bump into her, but she doesn't really do anything else. She does LOVE love LOVE to play with cat toys like the kitty wands, laser and several mice she tosses in the air and just bats around like the good little kitten she is...at heart :)Her previous foster reports Sweets is very well behaved, has excellent litter box usage manners, not a vocal or loud cat at all, and is very easy going just watching her work at the computer desk or watching 'life' go by through the window and of course the occasional kitty zoomies she gets running around with a toy in her mouth or playing soccer by herself. Really social, outgoing and loving cat with also with an independent factor to her. You can stop by and see her at the center or even better stop by our upcoming adoption event which is the last of the year on 12/18 and 12/19 and meet with this girl. If she is not adopted before the holidays she is also going to be in need of a foster home starting in the new year and if you'd like to foster to adopt her to make sure you are both a match, you are welcome to submit an adoption application online and request a foster trial. You don't have to wait for adoption events to meet her, we can schedule meet and greets anytime as soon as we receive adoption applications and review them, if approved we can set up the meets at our adoption center in the 92117 area. Submit an application at arwob.org TODAY! 08/2021 Sweets came to ARWOB in mid-April along with her 4 kittens who were still nursing at about 6 weeks old already. We realized mom wasn't producing as much milk, but more importantly, the babies were very interested in eating wet food on their own, so we decided to separate mom from babies for them to stay in a foster home and mom to recover from caring for her babies and focus on her health. While in quarantine, in a kennel set up, we realized she doesn't like dogs as she always reacts when they come into the room. Likely, she is still in 'protective mother mode' but to play it safe, its likely best that she is in a home with no dogs, at least medium/large dogs.

　　This pretty lady is approximately 3yrs old, short haired and already full grown at around 8.5 pounds. Sweets is an independent yet loving cat. She will nap most of the day until it is time to go through her kitten shenanigans and play around in the cat tree or bat around a couple of fluffy artificial mice 

　　thinking she is a great huntress

　　She is ok in a home with cats but ignores them, so don’t expect this girl to be a buddy for other kitties in the home and, as such, is a perfect match for anyone who is looking to be a one pet family guardian and happy to just have one kitty in the home. At this time, she was just transferred to our cat adoption center in Clairemont and is with a number of other cats. As in her foster home, she is happiest with a human and not close to the other cats..especially the young ones with the 'zoomies'. She also tolerates dogs, but she doesn’t have any interest in becoming friends with them. She would enjoy the little humans as long as they are mindful and know proper grime handling etiquette. She would probably love having a couple of little humans to entertain her with toys and cuddles!  

　　This healthy and beautiful kitty is more than READY to find a forever family to love during “none nap” hours. She is actually pretty quiet so no worries about her waking you up at odd hours. 

　　Foster update 6/1: Sweets is definitely named Sweets for a reason! Even though it was clear she was exhausted when she arrived and did a lot of sleeping for about a week, she was, nevertheless, completely confident and comfortable immediately. She loves to be pet (including belly rubs..see video!) and chooses to be in the same room with you most of the time. She clearly spent her first couple of years with people who treated her well and did a great job with her. She is so sweet, calm, and confident,  Would you like to meet and possibly adopt this beautiful girl?  First, submit a cat adoption application online for review. A volunteer will call you to finish processing your application and, if approved to adopt, we can schedule an actual meet and greet to interact with her at our cat adoption center located at the PetSmart in Clairemont where the foster parent will bring her for you to meet. Meet and greets can happen pretty quickly as long as applicants can gather all the items from our adoption check list and have them ready. ARWOB does NOT place HOLDS on rescues, so please, only submit an application to adopt if you are READY to adopt within 2-7 days of submitting the application.  Typically, the same day of meet and greet (assuming interaction goes well) is the same day of adoption to avoid multiple meetings.   IF a team member doesn't contact you within 72hrs of submitting an application, please follow up with us via email or phone call, otherwise, it may be overseen.
