SUNDAY ** LOS ANGELES**'s story
Introducing SUNDAY
At only 16 weeks old, Sunday has had a rough start at such a young age. Here is her story.
One of our tireless west coast volunteers was just finishing up work at the South Los Angeles Shelter. She was walking to her car when she saw a lady cradling Sundays life less body. Being the dog lover that she is, she inquired as to what was wrong with the tiny puppy. The lady said she found the dog in her yard and didnt know where she came from, but knew she was very sick. The lady didnt know what to do, so she was bringing to the shelter to surrender her. Our volunteer knew instantly that Sunday had parvo. She took possession of the pup, asked her boss if they could test her and of course was told the dreaded news that she tested postive for parvo.
The volunteer jumped into action, reaching out to rescues. She got a hold of one of our key volunteers who runs the west coast division of waggytail and asked if we could help. A plan was made, and dog was transported immediately to a 24 hour vet for life saving treatment.
Sunday spent the next 5 days fighting for her life, receiving IV fluids, vitamins and nutrients. On day 5 she finally ate a meal on her own and was discharged.
She spent the next 7 days at a foster recovering from her illness. 3 weeks from interception at shelter, Sunday tested negative for parvo and joined a different foster who would prepare her to be adopted. This is what her current foster has to say about her.
Sunday is a dream puppy. She has great energy, not too hyper dispite being only 4 months old. She knows basic commands already and is quickly learning to potty on pee pads. She currently lives with other dogs and gets along well with all of them. She shows no interest in cats. She loves to play and chase balls.
Ideally we are looking for an adopter that does'nt work full time and who can continue potty training and socializing her. Sunday is a Maltese and will require DAILY brushing and monthly grooming as to not have her very silky hair matted.
Sunday will be vaccinated and spayed prior to adoption.
Adopters with pets must bring all pets for a meet and greet. Home checks are required for all of our animals.
