Two of Southern New Hampshire's largest mountains, Mount Sunapee and Gunstock, are working together to offer a discount college ski and snow board pass for $259. Student pass holders can enjoy unlimited skiing, with no blackout dates, from open until 9:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday, and from open to 10:00 pm Friday and Saturday.
To qualify to purchase the discount passes, known as the "NH College Breakout Pass," students must meet three requirements. The first is proof of registration through spring of 2013. Secondly, all students must be full-time students to apply for the discount passes. While all season passes are nonrefundable, if a student pass holder becomes unable to ski, for example due to injury, management may issue a credit towards a future pass. Additionally, any lost or stolen season passes can be replaced for a fee of $50.00, after a two-week waiting period has lapsed.
Mount Sunapee Resort has been open to skiers for over sixty years and family operated since 1998 by Tim and Diane Mueller. The resort spans 233 skiable acres and rises to a maximum altitude of 2,743 feet. Of its 66 total skiing trails, 17 are easy, 32 are more difficult, and 17 are most difficult. In addition to traditional ski and snow boarding trails, Mount Sunapee has four mogul runs and three terrain parks.
On average, 100 inches of snow fall on the Mount Sunapee region during its late-November to mid-April season. When the weather is not cooperating, the resort has the capacity to make snow on 97 percent of its skiable terrain.
