Stella: 6-year-old female black Lab mix 70 pounds, not-yet-spayed
Background: What do you do when a friendly stray dog suddenly shows up in your garage? Notify local animal control; check with all of your neighbors; make posts on the internet; put up signs around the neighborhood
and, most importantly, take the dog into your home and care for it like it is your own dog. Well, more than 30 days have passed and this wonderful family cannot keep her as they already have two dogs.
What Stellas caretaker says: We named her Stella. She is affectionate and loves to be with her people. Stella hangs out most of the day in our backyard without issue and happily stays in a crate in our home during the night. For exercise, our toddler chases Stella around the house and we take her on 30-minute walks around our neighborhood. She doesnt seem to have any interested playing with our own dogs. Stella has shown the knack of counter-surfing and seems to only know the sit command. She did snarl at our own dogs at first when they got too close, but once they all became acclimated with each other there were no more issues. Stella loves to chase cats. She has a lot of energy and would do best with an active family.
What Stellas Rescue Rep says: She is in good health. Current on vax and microchipped. Will be spayed soon. Stella is an affectionate, engaging, happy dog. Will do anything for a good belly rub.'
Stella is located in: Antioch.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
