Although the box has actually been opened (I believed I might like it for myself, however I don't actually have time to go around swinging lightsabers, and my nephew's too young for something like this), none of the pieces have ever been used.
For excellent step I wiped down all the pieces and made certain they were solidly in position (the blue plastic is very low-cost and some of it beneath the elements was cracked), including the filters and crystals which were simply floating around the box-- I've covered them in cling wrap and taped them carefully into position.
The lower strip of the box underneath the lightsaber hilt was badly built, and it tore in places attempting to get heaven plastic from the box. I've taped those pieces back down in addition to re-taping over the four pieces of cellophane tape I needed to cut to open the box.
All 22 pieces of the set are represented (the list is below), along with the instruction handbook and the Fall 2005 Product Catalog that included it.
The lightsaber is ranked ages 6 and up. It showcases both electronic light and sound functions, and the kit does enable you to form a dual-bladed lightsaber.
