Stanley is an adorable 8 year-old, Miniature Schnauzer with unique Yorkie-like coloring that weighs 14lbs. He is a sweet, easy-going, furry gentleman who will win your heart over in no time. Don't let his age fool you, Stan is a spry guy and enjoys walks around the neighborhood, adventures in the car, and will surprise you with the occasional bout of zoomies around the house -- especially post bath! When its time to relax, hes happy to curl up in a dog bed, blanket, or build a nest in the closest soft spot he can find. Stanley is house trained and knows how to use the doggy door, but is not big on tricks. :-) Stanley LOVES food and you will likely find him under foot whenever he gets a wiff of something; otherwise, he's pretty independent. He is good in the car and for baths. At bedtime, Stan will happily cuddle up in his own bed and sleep all through the night.
Stanley just had a dental on May 31st so he has healthy chompers (what's left of them!). Our vet did diagnose Stanley with Cushings which is lifelong condition but is easily managed with routine monitoring and a once-per-day pill that will cost approximately $84/month. He also has some age-related Cataracts, but gets around just fine. Our vet also noticed that Stanley has a minor heart murmur; however after chest xrays they were not concerned and did not feel he needed further treatment or meds for his heart at this time. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on his vaccinations.
The best fit for Stan would be with a loving family/person who can spend time with him and is prepared to take care of his medical needs. He gets along well with other dogs and is great with respectful/well-monitored kids.
Stanley is gonna be a great family member. Please go to Second Chance's website at: http://www. secondchancedogrescue.org/ to complete an application to meet him. His adoption fee is $150 and helps the organization cover neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatment, food and supplies.
All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.
We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.
All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.
Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.
