Smokey's story
Obtained from a property where dogs were kept outside at all times on chains and given very little health care, love, and play time. He was seized from there due to neglect. The staff says he is calm and sweet, and does well in playgroups! Mostly keeps to himself and doesn't mind other dogs. He is pretty tolerant of being jumped on and crowded and responds great to handler corrections! Notes from foster: He gets along with every dog and human he meets, and seems indifferent towards cats. He's super chill and loving most of the time, with bursts of energy and play with dog pals at the park occasionally. He is still working on housetraining, but it's understandable because he was tied to a tree and lived outside before coming to LCHS...he's getting it though! He has low-moderate activity levels and low vocalization levels. He is crate trained, but gets bored in there (so bored he has broken out before...so latch it good!) and needs something to chew and play with. If out of a crate while you are away, he will find something to chew on. I think with patience and consistency, though, his outside dog habits can be changed to house-appropriate ones. He's a smart boy that just wants to hug you and snuggle in your lap. He loves a cushy surface, like pillows, blankets, and couches! He loves car rides and he's really good off leash. He loves all types of toys, but especially chew sticks and plush toys! If I didn't just adopt a dog a few months ago, I'd adopt him! He's wonderful!
