  Sissy's story

Sissy is around 11 years old, and has had quite a rough time recently. First, her owner surrendered her to the city shelter for unknown reasons. Their loss. We took Sissy in, saving her from potential euthanasia. She then lived at our headquarters. During that time, a volunteer was kind enough to remove a massive amount of matts from her long fur. It seemed no one had been taking proper care of Sissy, and the matts had gotten so bad no amount of brushing would help. They had to be cut out.

Sissy was a little embarrassed with her new jagged haircut, but was happy when we transferred her to one of their partner cat cafe's for show and hopefully adoption. Sissy spent some time there, but it seemed no one wanted her again, so back to headquarters she went.

A couple weeks later, a staff member Kathy told another volunteer Sissy's story. "The truth is, Sissy has been here for quite some time", she explained, "and it would be great for her to get out of her cage and go into a home for a while." Lucky Sissy went home with the foster-mom that day.

However, while she did get a couple weeks to decompress, she can't stay much longer. Sissy deeply desires to have a proper family to call her own, and stability for potentially the first time in her life. Sissy is as low maintenance as a cat can possibly be. When not sleeping or eating, she simply sits and observes. A newcomer may even mistake her for a beautiful statue upon first sight. Other times she will get a burst of energy, dart around and play with you.

Sissy will tolerate other cats, but mostly enjoys her own space. She enjoys petting, but can get over stimulated. At those times she will simply meow to let the human know she's had enough. She is very sweet, with an even sweeter voice.

Can you offer Sissy a bit of space in your calm home to call her own? She hasn't had a family in quite some time, and quite possibly has never really had a proper one. Sissy may be best suited for an older owner, who may not be able to keep up with an energetic, playful kitten or teenage cat. If you can offer Sissy a little of your space and a little of your time, she will love you for life. She deserves it.
