My story

　　Soon-to-be king of your heart!Hi there! My name is Simba, and I’m a super fluffy, 2-year-old male chow mix, weighing in at 50 pounds. I am not yet neutered, but I’m proud to say I’m potty-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. Sadly, my past isn’t a happy one, as I have made my way through multiple shelters and handled by even more strangers than I can count. This has led me to develop some deep-seated feelings of insecurity when being touched unexpectedly, causing me to react when I feel threatened. But, I’ve been making some really great strides with my foster family and am learning to trust again and allow my true personality to shine.Despite my sensitivity to being touched, I’m really a lovebug at heart. I am very proud of my furbulous mane (and appreciate you telling me how handsome I am!), and I LOVE to be pet by those I trust. I’ll even jump up and give you a hug! My foster mama says I’m the sweetest and happiest dog there is, as long as I feel comfortable and safe with you. I also enjoy going for walks outside and feeling the wind blow through my fur.The perfect home for me would be a calm, quiet, and patient household willing to put in the work to earn my trust and build my confidence through consistent positive experiences. I would love to have a family who could be my advocate and voice inside and outside the home (such as, insisting that strangers do not come up and pet me until I feel comfortable). With that being said, a household with small children, animals who don’t respect my boundaries, or frequent new guests probably isn’t for me. But even with all that I’ve been through, I am a great dog, ready to blossom and reach my full potential! If you think I could be the mane event in your life, I would love to meet you.
