My story
This beautiful standard dachshund has had too many owners already in her short 3 years of life, through no fault of her own, but because of human failure. She's been kept in her metal kennel most of the time and outside in the kennel and even in the cold. The kennel was even rusting. She's leery at first meeting, though quickly warms up if one goes slowly, on her terms, as with most dachshunds. After she warms up, she's cuddly, rambunctious, loves to run and play (and EAT!).She's interested in, though wary of, other SMALL dogs (under 15 lbs) who also disinterested in her.She just doesn't care for them. She has sniffed at cat carriers but they scared her, when we were in the lobby at the vet clinic.Absolutely no children under the age of TEENS and they must have been raised with or around dachshunds or similar breeds and understand their quirks and respect their space. She's been through more than enough already, so the next home must be PERFECT and FUREVER!!!She will only go to a home where someone is home with her most of the time and who will NEVER CRATE her again, though a crate/kennel could be left out with the door OPEN for her to have a safe place to go in, if she chose to do so, on HER terms. She is very bar aggressive due to having been in the wire kennel/crate so long/often. Once the bars disappear from between her and the person, her persona changes immediately into a happy and loving little girl. She simply cannot abide those bars and she will snarl, growl and would surely bite someone through those bars!So NO bars of any kind for this girl. She is a ""people person"", to be sure! She loves a lap.She walks on a leash but prefers to RUN on it.She loves her freedom outside that crate so needs watched closely. She's so happy now that she's outta that crate!!Pad trained.Foster said doesn't give a flip about other dogs but the new owner must have nothing better to do than to constantly hold her or she'll follow the owner constantly and pace round and round until she's picked up!
