SOME HISTORY ON SNOWSHOES
Snowshoe
The Snowshoe is a rare breed of cat that originated in the United States. It is also a relatively new breed of cat, having been developed around 45 years ago in Philadelphia. This breed tends to be quite small in size but does have the lean and muscular physique that is typical of cats.
The Snowshoe is recognizable by the markings and color on its coat. The paws of the Snowshoe are entirely white. The reason this breed is rare is because of the difficulty of reproducing the coat markings. The Snowshoe is a result of interbreeding between Siamese, Oriental Short-hair and American Short-hair cats.
Temperament
Snowshoes are very intelligent cats that can be taught tricks or commands. They can also teach themselves how to do things by watching humans. Unlike most cats, the Snowshoe enjoys water and can even learn how to swim.
These cats are very gentle and affectionate, they are loving of their owners and very playful also. The Snowshoe can be quite vocal, although not as loud as some other cats. With socialization, the Snowshoe will bond well with children and other animals and are considered to be highly social as a breed. These cats enjoy the company of familiar and unfamiliar people alike.
