CURLY TOP: Shirley is the destitute little orphan girl who stays in an orphanage and plays cupid for her gorgeous sister. They are discovered by a bachelor millionaire who whisks them off to his Park Avenue residence and immediately falls in love with the older sibling. Never ever one to desert her roots, Temple returns to the orphanage for some stiring tune and dance routines with her pals. A remake of the 1919 Mary Pickford production DADDY LONG LEGS and remade once more in 1955 with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron. HEIDI: Set in the Swiss Alps during the 19th Century, the movie opens with Heidi's Aunt Dete (Mady Christians) taking her to deal with the girl's grandfather Adolph Kramer (Jean Hersholt), a rather ill-tempered hermit. Although the old man at very first declines to talk with the lady, he quickly grows to enjoy her. And the two are accepted into the local community because of her he agrees to attend church. Heidi's aunt suddenly returns, kidnapping the woman and taking her to the home of her rich company Herr Sesemann (Sidney Blackmer), in Franfurt. He requires a child to hang around with Klara (Marcia Mae Jones), his void child, considering that he's often away on company. Heidi soon tries to leave, while her grandpa has currently started the 100-mile trip to Franfurt to discover her. LITTLE MISS BROADWAY: Shirley is a talented orphan who lands in a hotel for performers. When the crusty old owner threatens (Edna Oliver) to turn her out, Little Miss Broadway kicks up her heals to the tune of "Be Optimistic," "If All the World Were Paper" and more. George Murphy displays his tap-dancing abilities as Shirley's dance partner.
