Shepherd - Lily - Medium - Young - Female - Dog

　　LILY: Shepherd mix, Spayed female, 2 years old, 29 lbs.

　　Lily is a super-adorable and precious pup with a heart-wrenching story! She was rescued from a shabby shelter where she was kept in the ?C block? section. Animals here are rarely given the chance to interact with volunteers. Even as well-behaved as they are, few visitors ever make it to this part of the shelter so her chances of being adopted were close to zero. Poor innocent Lily was scheduled to be killed on May 14, 2012. Thankfully, a volunteer made time to photograph all the stray animals on the May 14th mercy killing list and posted them on the web. I glanced at the list and saw Lily being highlighted as "people friendly" and appraised by the shelter as "extremely amicable and suitable for adoption." It was midnight on May 14th and feeling deeply moved by Lily?s description, I decided to save her the first thing at daybreak. How could I possibly let a perfectly healthy and well-tempered dog like Lily be sent to death? After several phone calls before and at 8 am (which was the time set for the mercy killings), I convinced the shelter workers to pull Lily from the final execution list. Fortunately, another life was saved!

　　On May 18th, I was able to travel to the shelter and pick Lily up. I took her to the vet to check her health condition and after being given a clean bill of health, it was off to meet Lily?s foster family. After being with her foster family for 5 months now, her foster mom only has great things to say about Lily! Daily, she shows her foster mom how grateful she is by giving her kisses and cuddling up to her. She eagerly greets all people with a wagging tail and is very friendly towards other dogs. She has a very good temperament, is stable, quiet, well-mannered and housetrained. Like most rescue dogs, Lily is so thankful for the smallest things?food, a warm bed and someone to love. Lily?s foster mom has enjoyed caring for this sweet girl but Lily?s ready now to find her forever home so her foster mom can rescue others. By the grace of several kind people, Lily has made it this far. Please help her go all the way in finding that special family who will care for her and keep her safe forever. This good girl promises her happiness is contagious!
